OverviewThis text covers every area of the PNP certification examinations. The largest portion of the book addresses common presenting symptoms and problems; other parts address health promotion and well child care, pediatric emergencies, research concepts, quality assurance, and issues and trends. Each topical area includes a content review followed by a number of questions and answers. At the end of the book is a full-length practice examination with answer key with rationales. Paediatric nurse practitioners deliver primary care to paediatric patients and their families in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. PNPs provide health care services such as performing physical examinations, providing immunizations, screening, and other types of wellness health care delivery, treating chronic illnesses, and referring to specialists. In order to be able to practice in the PNP role, the nurse must pass a certification examination. Certification examinations are offered by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) through the ANA and by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners (NAPNAP). Most nurses take the exams offered by the ANCC. The ANCC examinations are offered 2 times each year - in June and October. The exams are offered at more than 100 sites across the nation. Certification is valid for five years.
