He has taken a leading role in the Nuffield Chemistry, Twenty First Century Science and Science in Society projects. He taught advanced chemistry course in schools for 20 years and has written a variety of successful chemistry textbooks including an AS and A2 textbook/CD-ROM series. In 1988 I was awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry Award in Chemical Education. I was a founder member and director of the Association for Science Education's SATIS project to promoted the public understanding of science through the school curriculum. This interest continues with the development of a new AS course called 'Science for Public Understanding'. I am also part of the management team for another ASE project called Science across the World which creates opportunities for students in schools all over the world to explore issues related to science in society and then exchange their findings with students in other countries by fax or e-mail.
