She grew up in Oregon, and has lived and taught in Alaska for more than 45 years. She lived in rural Alaskan villages before moving to Homer where she taught music at Paul Banks Elementary School for 19 years. There she discovered a great resource in Paul Banks, a remarkable man who was the school custodian, but also wrote plays and songs, and created sets for school programs. After Paul's death, Mrs. Cline produced THE PAUL BANKS SONGBOOK to preserve his music. She wrote PAUL BANKS: ALASKAN MUSIC MAN, a children's biography of Paul Banks, so that the children who attend the school named for him and others can know his stories, and why the community named the school after him. Mrs. Cline is also the author and illustrator of RAVEN PAINTS THE BIRDS, a picture book retelling a raven tale with a new twist. She lives in Homer, Alaska where she enjoys writing, quilting, and sewing. She and her husband Mike have traveled widely, and enjoy spending time with the families of their two adult children and their grandchildren.
