Overview

A fascinating and informative narrative with a pictorial record identifying the genealogy of the Australian trained chiropractor and osteopath dating from the founders of the first colleges in Australia in the late 1920's to the present. The major part of this book records for the first time an original and authoritative account of the foundation and development of the Sydney College of Chiropractic with its contribution and osteopathic education in Australia. Despite opposition from political medicine and conflict within the professions the College played an integral part in the drive for legislation of chiropractors and osteopaths and a pivotal role in the development and recognition of these professions. The SCC emerged to establish its reputation of excellence in the education of chiropractors and osteopaths in Australia which eventually led to its amalgamation with Macquarie University. This was a world first which provided for the Master of Chiropractic Degree to be instituted, the highest level of pre-professional chiropractic education in Australia. This achievement contributed to the unification of the two major chiropractic associations which enhanced the standing of the profession in the community.
