He received his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then obtained fellowship training in oncologic pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He worked at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He held named professorships at both institutions. He returned to Madison as a professor after retirement from Mayo. Dr. Lloyd is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology and Molecular Pathology.
