OverviewHow past is the archaeological present? In a series of essays, 'excavating' vulnerabilities are unearthed, exposing archaeologists to what else may remain of the presence of the past in the archaeological record. These include those traces and fragments of durational sensory elements of the past long ignored in field notes and site reports. Archaeology is here conceived less as the digging into material objects and features, the unearthing of a buried and dead humanity, and more as an open-ended performance exploration of alternative possibilities: an 'other' sense of being and becoming present.
