Table of ContentsReviewsThis book carries extraordinary insight into the spiritual and ethical meaning of D.H. Lawrence's work. To that great modernist, Sipple brings a postmodern sensibility, and a religious conscience as well. The result is a study that should cause a re-estimate of Lawrence's position in the cultural ferment of this century. Sipple's skill as a literary critic puts him in the exalted company of those commentators who help us live better lives by helping us re-read authors we thought we knew. (Tom F. Driver, Union Theological Seminary) Author InformationThe Author: James B. Sipple is a literary critic who decided to study theology. An ordained pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, he presently serves as Chair of the Interdisciplinary Studies Department at The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. Dr. Sipple holds a Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary in New York City where he cultivated his literary interests at Columbia University and even taught the Lawrence course at the New School.
