Author Information

Christian Stuckl was born in the German village of Oberammergau and grew up in the family's guest house. He became absorbed in the Passion Play from an early age, and joined a group of villagers determined to reform the text and staging in order to project the Play to a changing world, and rid it from associations with anti-Semitism. Stefan Hageneier was born in Oberammergau and trained as a woodcarver. He was brought to the Munich Kammerspiele in 1991 as an assistant and became a skilled set and costume designer, including at the Bavarian State Theatre. Since 2011 he has been Professor of stage and costume design at the art academy Berlin Weissensee. He has collaborated with Christian Stuckl for many years, and is the Designer for the third time at the Passion Play 2022.
