The Editors: Rita Hofstetter is professor in the Educational sciences Section of the University of Geneva. She works on the history of education and specializes in the study of the 19th and 20th century. Her research centres on the nationalization of schools, New Education, reforms of teacher education and the emergence of Educational sciences as a disciplinary field. Bernard Schneuwly is a professor at the University of Geneva. His research centres on the teaching of oral and written language, on the relationship between teaching, learning and development in a historico-cultural perspective and on the history of educational science. Les responsables de la publication: Historienne de l'éducation, Rita Hofstetter est professeur à l'Université de Genève. Ses travaux portent sur l'étatisation de l'école, l'histoire de la formation des enseignants et de leur professionnalisation ainsi que des premiers développements des sciences de l'éducation comme champ disciplinaire. Bernard Schneuwly est professeur à l'Université de Genève.
