OverviewA passeggiata in Italy is a gentle stroll taken in the late afternoon or early evening. Rosemary Ross Johnston's Passeggiata strolls through a long and varied life - as daughter, wife, mother, teacher, university professor, researcher, writer, and crusader against disadvantage. Building on a motif of her various homes and gardens, Passeggiata is more than a memoir; it is a story of challenge, discovery about origins and revelations about identity, set amidst richly evocative literary and artistic contexts. Passeggiata offers a valuable and fascinating snapshot of a nation growing through immense sociocultural and historical change. It is convivial and invites profoundly philosophical and spiritual perspectives. It also captures a vital story about the beginnings of the Australian film industry and its ongoing struggles against external control. Most of all Passeggiata is about celebrating both present and past, with hope and gratitude.
