Author Information

Prof. Kazunari Domen received B.S. (1976), M.S. (1979), and Ph.D. (1982) honors in chemistry from the University of Tokyo. He joined Chemical Resources Laboratory, Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1982 as Assistant Professor and was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor in 1990 and Professor in 1996. He moved to the University of Tokyo as Professor in 2004. He retired from the University of Tokyo in 2019. Since then, he has been a University Professor of the University of Tokyo. He has also been a Special Contract Professor at Shinshu University since 2017. He has been studying overall water splitting reaction on heterogeneous photocatalysts to generate clean and recyclable hydrogen. Since 2000, he has been developing various kinds of photocatalysts for water splitting using visible light for efficient solar hydrogen production. He has authored more than 840 original research articles and has filed more than 40 patents. His h-index is 120. Dr. Takashi Hisatomi received his PhD in Engineering from the University of Tokyo under Prof. Domen's supervision in March 2010. He studied as a postdoctoral fellow in Laboratory of Photonics and Interfaces of École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne from April 2010 to March 2012. He moved to the University of Tokyo in April 2012 as a postdoctoral fellow and acquired a position of Assistant Professor in August 2012. He moved to Shinshu University as Associate Professor in April 2018. His major research interests are semiconductor photocatalysts and photoelectrodes for overall water splitting, kinetics and reaction selectivity of photoexcited carriers in semiconductors, and reaction systems and processes for renewable solar fuel production. He has authored 129 original research articles and has filed 5 patents. His h-index is 42.
