She has been a scholar, a teacher, a translator of Spanish poetry, and a writer of fiction and non-fiction.Over five decades Betty Jean published numerous books, including the biography of a remarkable human, titled Eugene Odum: Ecosystem Ecologist and Environmentalist, and the shorter biography of a remarkable bird, titled Conversations with Cosmo: At Home with an African Grey Parrot.
