INTRODUCTION Parents are the genesis of interaction for their children in this world, they affect how the child perceives and gives meaning to the world around them. Nature as well as nurture are strongly affected by the type of parenting a child receives. Numerous studies quote that the initial years in the life of a child are foundational in setting the compass for the rest of their lives. A parent's cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development are bound to have a significant impact on the fabric of their child's life. For e.g.-higher the level of education of the parent more is the level of responsibility shown by the child (Godarzi, 2012), parents who nurture their children with greater independence end up with children who are more willing to accept responsibility (Barsade, 2000). Several investigations have led to theories of effective parenting styles, positive parenting, raising emotionally intelligent children etc. Numerous studies support spirituality or spiritual health to be effective in coping with stress and enhancing their lifestyle. Inculcation of spiritual beliefs and attitudes in our lives shield us from breaking down when under pressure. People are becoming more open to using spirituality as a tool to cope, strive and succeed in various endeavours in life.It has proved to have a meaningful relationship with psychological wellbeing, happiness, resilience etc. Although spirituality has established empirical significance, investigations of parental spiritual health and its trans-generational influence on their offspring are at a nascent stage. A study shows that parents with higher spiritual intelligence positively influence the mental health of their children (Mohammadyari, 2012). Another study asserts, that young adults belonging to supportive and stable families respond better with life stressors. (De Haan et al., 2002).
