Overview

"If You LOVE Your School PLEASE Don't Ignore This Book! Parents Defrauding Schools is an insightful look at how a few parents disregard the rules that most parents follow, leaving a trail of damage, broken dreams and disruption in their wake. It's a 1-2 hour, 75-page ""read"" that will both horrify and fascinate you! For example: - A high school booster club parent embezzles $270,000 and doesn't spend a day in jail! - A father risks prison by enrolling his daughter in a great school in a wealthy school district in which the parents don't live. - A mother seeks to prevent her ex-husband from abducting their daughter - for which she has sole custody - from school and flying her to his parent's home in Iraq. - Parents bribe pre-school teachers with $1,000 bottles of wine and a week's use of a parent's private jet so they will write glowing recommendations to have the parent's children admitted to elite private elementary schools. The 9 case studies are composites of several actual situations that occurred in the last few years and - by many accounts - are on the rise. A probable outcome is suggested for each case; background information is provided; and strategies for preventing these incidents from occurring in YOUR district are suggested. Where existing laws are questionable, some alternatives are suggested. Written from many years of experience working with numerous schools and districts, this book is a 'must read' for: - Principals & teachers - School district administrators & staff - School board members & ""board watchers"" - PTA & Booster Club officers & members - Parents, journalists & politicians Parents Defrauding Schools gives information that can protect YOUR SCHOOL. Order a paperback copy for your school office, teacher workroom or coffee table today; or read it on your Kindle or Apple device and share it to with your friends!"

Author Information

"Steve Frankel wrote this book, and is currently writing the other books in the series, ""The Hidden World of Schools."" He has worked for nearly 40 years wtih school districts where part of his responsibilities were helping to prevent frauds and embezzlements; thefts of cash, property and services; and wasteful practices that could damage a school district's reputation and bond rating. Much of his experience in investigating frauds and embezzlements, and conducting operations audits and cost-benefit analyses, was gained in the Montgomery County (MD) Public Schools where he was the Director of Educational Accountability for nearly 20 years. Steve has done similar work for several federal agencies and the District of Columbia Public Schools, the Santa Monica Unified School District and the Los Angeles Unified School District. Steve's long writing career has seen him writing five books on PCs, three of which were best sellers; and three camera manuals, including The Compleat Apple iPhone and iPad Camera Guide. His present project, The Hidden World of Schools, is his attempt to help schools function better by: -Preventing frauds, thefts, scams and other dishonest acts perpetrated by parents, principals, school staff, school board members and school owners. -Improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness with which schools and school districts function. -Assisting school officials in providing frank and honest presentations of achievement data, and graduation and dropout data, rather than providing the public with overly optimistic results. Steve has achieved all these goals as a staff member and consultant; now he will try to broaden his reach these goals through his books. Steve has taught graduate courses at UCLA, Cal State Los Angeles, Virginia Tech and The George Washington University; and public school in Miami, Florida. He has a doctorate from Indiana University in Education Information Systems with minors in Educational Research and Marketing. Steve and his wife love cruising on small, cruise ships. They have travelled more than 250,000 sea miles apiece, visiting nearly every port at which cruise ships dock. Steve and his wife share their home in Playa del Rey, CA, with two 80-pound dogs, a 22-pound Maine coon cat who thinks he is a dog, and a normal-size cat who is 16-years old and runs the whole house when he yowls and exerts his authority."
