OverviewAs an adolescent health researcher and a therapist--and as mothers of teenagers--we have written this family and parenting book for LDS parents whose teens are struggling in someway, emotionally, spiritually or socially. From a prevention perspective, any parent of teenagers may be interested in encouraging their teenager to practice patient resilience, especially in these trying times. We present practical examples of practicing resilience in our daily lives in an engaging, personable tone. First, we introduce the concept of resilience and then dive into the challenge of handling challenging emotions and nurturing positive emotions. Next, we cover practical parenting practices, discuss finding balance as we parent teens, and explore ways to promote spiritual growth among youth in an increasingly secular world. Finally, we share perspectives on ways to be spiritually grounded as parents of teenagers, acknowledging that our example is more powerful than anything we say.
