OverviewOn November 4th, Arlene Mitchell is elected as the first woman president of the United States. A night of celebration turns into one of shock as she's kidnapped in a well executed plan which turns into a mystery when there isn't a demand for ransom. The kidnappers are a diverse group. Their leader, Karl, is a failed actor determined to leave his mark on history. Javier is only involved because Karl took him out of the gutter. Ali, a former boxer, hates America. The others are Karl, cold and indifferent to the sufferings of others, and a mystery woman, the key to the plot. The efforts to find out who, why and where is led by West Virginia's misanthropic but mentally agile FBI Director, Martin Czernak, who is aided by three of Arlene's Secret Service detail, Ben, David and an agent nicknamed Quick Hands. The action builds with Arlene's resourcefulness and surprises including a rescue that isn't, leading to a climax that shifts between the Capitol and a foot chase through the Appalachians before everything is revealed and resolved.
