Overview

Explore the Pantheon in its most secret corners that only our virtual reality can disclose you The origin Art Architecture The rotunda The polychrome floor The pronao Gian Lorenzo Bernini Virtual reality Points cloud Interactivity Informatic system The Pantheon is the most intact of the ancient monuments of Rome and its magnificence has always aroused admiration and amazement. Since the Renaissance it has been one of the most important models of architecture, representing the maximum testimony of ancient construction techniques and an essential point of reference for the design of buildings with a central plan. Today it is finally possible to create, with the support of information technology, an almost perfect reproduction of any monument, allowing the scholar to analyze and interpret, the restorer to design the conservation and the public to enjoy the work. This is demonstrated by this experiment carried out on the Pantheon: a DVD containing a three-dimensional model with free navigation that allows the observer to grasp the Pantheon as a whole by flying like a bird. It can perch on the pediment, glide over the dome, penetrate the oculus, spin, falling for 43 meters to finally climb up the acanthus of a capital. Human documentation had never gone so far: to almost identify with the object to be analyzed, recreating it digitally. The model, which can be fully inspected and viewed, also makes it possible to request information of any kind and form in real time (photographs, technical data sheets, audiovisual documents, technical drawings, non-invasive investigation reports, etc.). Experts, connoisseurs, students and tourists can use a tool to satisfy the multiple and differentiated needs for knowledge of one of the most important monuments of our rich heritage.
