Bryan G. Levman holds a BA in English Language and Literature, an MSc in Geology and a doctorate in Religion from the University of Toronto, Canada. He is currently a Visiting Scholar in the Department for the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto, where he teaches Pāli. His research area is the early language(s) of Buddhism, what language(s) the Buddha used to communicate his teachings, linguistic ambiguities in the canon, and how the transmission evolved over time.
