I'd like to introduce Paintball Communication 101: A Guide to Tournament Paintball Communication, brought to you by Spearhead Sports and written by me Stuart Ridgel. Spearhead Sports is a paintball company focused around educating paintball players on how to play the sport of paintball and become better athletes all around. Whether you're playing competitive tournament speedball or just having fun in the woods with scenario play, we have something for you. If you're interested in becoming a better player; shooting more players and getting shot less, you have to learn some technical skills and make sure your mind and body is in good physical shape to compete. This is why I wanted to create something that will help focus on improving your game and teach you a few things you might not know. This book is meant to be a starting place and a resource to break down the different aspect of tournament paintball communication. You can tweak, add your own concepts or build off of the information I've provided. Also feel free to email or message me on your favorite social media sites and share any paintball knowledge with me! I'm always looking to learn new things and I know I still have a lot to learn in life and in paintball. Paintball has always been a huge part of my life and the moments I've experienced have been life changing. I can only hope to teach you some of the things I've learned throughout my years and help you grow as a person and a player. My name is Stuart Ridgel and I'm happily addicted to paintball. It all started in the summer of 2001 behind my family home in Covington, Louisiana. The woods became a haven of fun and adventure. Chasing down my friends and shooting them with tiny balls of paint, gave me a rush like I had never before experienced. After a few years of fooling around, I wanted to expand my game; so I found Paintball Command in Mandeville. As a young aspiring baller, I had the luck of having one the best paintball fields in Louisiana just 10 miles up the road. During that time, Paintball Command was the home field for the legendary 10-man team, New Orleans Rock-It-Kids. This access to experience and knowledge was beneficial in my development as a fan of the sport and a player determined to improve. After a couple of years of playing around at my local field, I started dabbling in Speedball. It got more serious in 2005 when I made the Rock-It-Kids' newly formed X-ball team. I was only 15 at that time; little did I know that my life was about to change. My first event was the PSP 2005 LA Open, Division 3 X-Ball. I didn't play much, but we won. After that moment, I was hooked. Since then, I've been chasing those gold medals and putting my blood, sweat, and tears into this sport. Over the past 14 years, I have played for many teams and acquired a treasure trove of knowledge that I now want to share with the world. Two of the most well-known teams that I've competed with are Division 1 New Orleans Warped Army and the professional paintball team, Chicago Aftershock. Paintball has taken me around the country to compete against some of the best players in the world. I'm here to share with you everything I've learned. I hope to see this sport I love grow and live on forever. My admiration for paintball has matured to the point where I will always support and have love for this game. Along with all of my paintball knowledge I have retained over the years, I am also a certified personal trainer with the Nation Exercise Sports Training Association, also known as NESTA. Besides being able to share my paintball skills, I will be able to take you step by step and teach you the proper way to get your body ready to compete at the highest levels. We are all in this together, so why not act like it. My goal is to cater to the players and make the sport and everyone the best they want to be. If you stay hungry, focused, and disciplined, you will reach your goals.
