He is a clinician, academician, lecturer, author, researcher, and an expert witness in medical malpractice cases. He is Board certified in Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology, and is a Graduate of the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine, completed a Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Kentucky, and was Chief Resident in anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine he did a Fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. Dr. Ackerman was: Nominated previously for the Southern Medical Society Medical Research Award, Bristol-Meyers Squibb award for distinguished achievement in Pain Research and was a recipient of the Karl Koehler research grant from the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. He has been a Guest speaker at Medical school depart-ment meetings and academic symposiums throughout the country and at international meetings. His research has been featured in the National media. He has published books and coauthored chapters in multiple medical textbooks including the AMA best seller: The AMA Guides to Injury and Disease Causation (First and Second editions).
