OverviewThis work analyzes the determinants of pain management in a care context that aims to humanize. Pain remains one of the leading causes of consultation. Several factors come into play in the management of pain, not least pain assessment, which is the first line of defence for both medicinal and non-medicinal interventions. In the community, pain management is based on self-medication, with harmful consequences. This study shows that pain can only be properly managed if staff take account of assessment tools and the classification of non-drug interventions. To this end, nursing staff must base their practice on the use of standard tools.
