Overview

"The latest volume in this ongoing series publishing the papyri from Oxyrhynchus (present day el-Bahnasa a hundred miles south west of Cairo) contains fifty-four texts ranging from the second to the sixth century AD. There are thirty-one literary texts, of which seven are new (one of elegiacs by Archilochus, a fragment of a Doric lyric, a Hellenistic elegy on metamorphoses, a text with musical notation, three hexameter texts in epic tradition including a new ""Argonautica"" poem), two papyri of Lysias, one of Lucian and twenty-one of Isocrates, six of ""Ad Nicoclem"", three of ""Nicocles"" and twelve of De Pace); three theological texts (""Hermas"", ""Pastor""); and twenty documentary texts (four land leases, five customs receipts, six sales of animals, and five texts relating to ennobled landowners in late Byzantine Oxyrhynchus)."
