OverviewThis book presents cutting-edge papers and perspectives on the transport of oxygen to tissues by scientists in a multitude of disciplines such as biochemistry, engineering, mathematics, medicine, physics, physiology, veterinary and complementary medicine. The book is composed of the following 8 parts: Honorary Lectures, Measuring Tissue Oxygen in vivo, Membrane-Level Transport, Hypoxia and Metabolic Regulation, Hemodynamic Physiology, Brain Functional Dynamics, Cerebral Hemodynamics, and Peripheral Oxygen Monitoring. The articles in this book have been presented at the 51st annual meeting of the International Society on Oxygen Transport to Tissue (ISOTT 2024). Academics, clinical and industry researchers, engineers, as well as graduate students who are interested in oxygen transport to tissue will find this book a great reference and a useful learning resource. Pias, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech) in Socorro, New Mexico, USA. She specializes in the biophysics of molecular transport processes important in energy metabolism, tumor cell survival, and cell death. Qi Wang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, USA. Her research uses molecular dynamics simulations to explore how biomolecular systems interact and change, with focus on membranes and proteins. Joseph C. LaManna, PhD, is Jeannette M. and Joseph S. Silber Professor for the Study of Brain Sciences, affiliated with the Departments of Physiology and Biophysics; Neurology; and Neuroscience at Case Western Reserve University Medical School, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. His research focuses on physiological adaptations to mild hypoxia and on brain metabolism of ketones as an alternate fuel to glucose. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
