OverviewOutta Nowhere: A Journey through Medical Crisis and Grief during a Pandemic is a memoir that chronicles the acute medical crisis that Bob, Sonya Claire's husband, experienced for over nine and a half months before his death and her family's journey through the grief that followed and continues. The story presents the personal details of navigating the healthcare system amid the many restrictions imposed during the global COVID-19 pandemic and her husband's eventual death. It is told in first person, from the point of view of a Christian, a therapist, a wife, a mother, and a widow. It is Sonya Claire's intent to grieve in ways that are healthy for her and that honor her husband. In addition to her therapy career and church service, she has recently launched a blog as part of a call to advocate for our society to become grief literate. It is her hope that her words, experiences, and practices might help someone else who is caregiving or grieving to feel less alone and overwhelmed.
