Outlook 2017: Trends and Tips for NGOs, Social Enterprises, and Strategic Donors

Overview

Epic Outlook 2017 is a byproduct of Epic Foundation's Global Selection Process. The process aims to select a portfolio of high-impact organizations supporting children and youth. Through this process Epic has reviewed approximately 2,000 NGOs and social enterprises during 2015-2016. The analysis and research for this report was conducted by Epic Foundation team members. Initial data analysis and qualitative research was conducted based on Epic's impact assessment methodology, analyzing 15 criteria across three key areas: Impact, Operations & Leadership. The data set for this project was created by consolidating aggregate data from the thousands of applications that Epic Foundation received in its 2015 and 2016 Selection Processes. Please take into consideration the context in which this data was collected, as it has been derived from organizations' applications to Epic Foundation. In addition to data collection and analysis, Epic's Selection Process included in-depth social, financial and operational due-diligence, interviews with management teams, and on-site field evaluations. Collectively, Epic's due-diligence process takes place over the course of seven months, from January to July, each year.
