Outhouses, Outrage & Open Hearts: A Romantic Comedy

Overview

Dalton doesn't have a romance problem. Dalton has an outhouse problem. When the town's beloved historic trail wins an ""improvement"" grant, half the community cheers-and the other half declares war. The grant requires new outhouses, updated signage, and accessibility upgrades... which means Dalton is about to fight about composting toilets, font choices, and what counts as ""authentic"" like it's a constitutional right. George Ward is Dalton's fiercest preservation advocate: principled, opinionated, and convinced the trail should look like Dalton-not a glossy brochure with a QR code. Sam Barton is the parks project manager tasked with delivering the upgrades on time and on budget: calm, competent, and unshakable under town-meeting chaos. Unfortunately, they're forced to co-lead the rollout. Which means public meetings, muddy site walks, design mock-ups, and a front-row seat to the town's loudest opinions-while trying not to murder each other in front of the Select Board. But as vandalism threatens the project and pressure mounts, George and Sam discover something inconvenient: their arguments are starting to sound like chemistry, their compromises are starting to feel like trust, and the trail isn't the only thing being rebuilt. Outhouses, Outrage & Open Hearts is a warm small-town romantic comedy about caring too much, fighting for what matters, and falling for the one person stubborn enough to stand beside you when the whole town is watching.
