Author Information

Kwame Alexander is a poet, an educator, and an author of twenty-one books for children and educators, including Acoustic Rooster and His Barnyard Band, Surf's Up, Booked, and a middle-grade novel in verse, The Crossover, which was awarded the 2015 Newbery Medal. He is currently the poet laureate of LitWorld, a K-6 literacy organization dedicated to supporting the development of literacy in the world's most vulnerable communities. He lives in Virginia. Chris Colderley is a poet and an elementary-school teacher in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. He was awarded a 2012 Book-in-a-Day poetry fellowship to study and write in Bahia, Brazil. His articles and poems have appeared in Language Magazine, California English, Inscribed, Maple Tree Literary Supplement, Teach, Tower Poetry, and more. Ekua Holmes is an artist whose work explores themes of family, relationships, hope, and faith. The first children's book she illustrated was Carole Boston Weatherford's Voice of Freedom: Fannie Lou Hamer, which was a Caldecott Honor Book and a Robert F. Sibert Honor Book and for which she won the John Steptoe New Talent Illustrator Award. She lives in Boston. MacLeod Andrews was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. An award-winning audiobook narrator, he is a member of Rising Phoenix Rep Theater Company. He currently resides in Los Angeles. Erin Bennett is an actress, a singer, and a voice-over artist. As an actress, she has performed at numerous theaters, including the Pasadena Playhouse, the Arizona Theatre Company, and the International City Theatre. Her voiceover work includes animation, BBC radio plays, video games, commercials for radio and television, and a wide range of audiobooks, including contemporary fiction, mysteries, science fiction, and romance.
