Bob: 5 Stars! Outstanding Book. Certainly Another of Bill Brown's Must Reads. I am a US Navy Vietnam Veteran and have read Bill Brown's Our Vietnam Wars volumes 1, 2, & 3. All are outstanding books. What I like most about them all is that they tell the personal stories of individual Vets whole life, from their lives before they went into the service, their service, and their lives after they came back. Not many books I have ever read about the war did that, and certainly not any covered the volume of Vietnam Veterans' stories that Bill's books do. Nadine Morris: 5 Stars! Vietnam The real story. What War is Like This is a terrific book that helps veterans and non-veterans alike better understand what war is like. These are true stories told by Vietnam War veterans. The Truth It is the unvarnished and unembellished Vietnam War experience as told by the men who were there. Their stories not only show how they got there but how the war affected their lives afterward. Brown has freed them from the one-dimensional characterizations popularized by Hollywood. Gary: 5 Stars! Fourth in an exceptional series of books I just finished this book. I have read each of the 4. There is something every Vietnam Vet can relate to somewhere in this fine selection of stories. A native of Chicago, I received a BA from The University of Illinois in History and Russian Area studies, and a Master's in City Planning. I served as a Company Commander in the US Army in Vietnam and became active in local and regional politics. As a Vice President of the real estate subsidiary of a Fortune 500 corporation, I traveled widely in Europe, Russia, China, and the Middle East, locations which have featured in my writing. I play bad golf, have become a dogged runner, and paint passable landscapes in oil and acrylic. Retired, my wife and I live in Florida.
