Sam was my eldest son. I had him when I was a girl of 18. Sam began talking when he was very young and always wanted to know everything. When Sam was 8-years-old, he was found to have a brain tumor. The writing and publication of this book has helped me tremendously in processing the loss of my first child. Sam handled way the knowledge that he would die in a miraculous way. Although his life was short, he has left an indelible impression on all who knew him. Rachel Horzelenberg (1981) had her first child at 18. She is the second child and second daughter in a family of eleven. She has seven sisters and three brothers in total. She is familiar with early human interaction: identifying and describing feelings in large and small events in life is her passion. She had a daughter after her first son, Sam.
