Overview

"""Does anyone find it ironic that a website will ask you to prove you are not a robot? Does anyone know what it's like to not feel human?"" In one animated six-part poem, Poet Laureate Marcus Amaker explores the ways in which we are all connected: The internet, spirituality, sports, iPhones, God, science, and more. Marcus uses fluid language and an effective minimal design to transform ""Our Quantum Entanglement"" into a pocket-sized, full-color art book. Marcus Amaker is an award-winning opera librettist, teaching artist, graphic designer, and musician. ""Our Quantum Entanglement"" is the first in a series of pocket-sized poetry books by the author. Each book has a handwritten ""about the poem"" feature, as well as a QR code that links to the video, spoken word, and electronic music version of the work."

Reviews

"""The beautiful thing about Marcus's writing is that you think it's simple, but it's quite complex. He has this economy of words that's so evocative and wonderful. As a composer, it's so natural to set music to his words. It just works beautifully."" - GRAMMY(R)-nominated composer, Shawn Okpheblo (Washinton Post, 2019). ""The power of this collection is in its verses. Whether grappling with fatherhood, or contemplating ""Star Wars,"" Mr. Amaker cuts right to the matter at hand. Like so many other poems ... it questions our assumptions and forces us to confront the very expressions we take for granted."" - Adriana E. Ramrez (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, 2023) Once, in 2001, I heard a poet read a poem that turned to music in the air. Two decades later Marcus Amaker's gorgeous new book is that moment on repeat, with each turned page."" - Andrea Gibson (world renowned poet, 2020)"
