Goodbye Day Job

Overview

Why did you pick up this book? Seriously, why? I am willing to bet that YOU long to say it: ‘GOODBYE, DAY JOB! I’m out of here.’ There is no shortage of sensible advice out there. ‘Oh, but the grass is always greener…,’ people warn. ‘Stick with what you know. Be sensible. Don’t rock the boat. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. And meanwhile, back in the real world…’ You’ve heard it all before, haven’t you? And yet. Read the stories of those who have done the unthinkable – walk away from a conventional career to pursue their labour of love. From Desktop Publisher to Actor and Festival Organiser, Finance pa to Puippeteer, Biologist to Animal Trainer for Film and tv, Journalist to Campsite Owner, and many more. But expect no glib platitudes here – this is a book of honest, warts-and-all reality. Best of all, Goodbye Day Job catches up with each contributor five years later. What happened in the aftermath of their drastic change of direction? Let’s find out. The results may surprise you. Fairytale ending? Not always. Inspiring tales of everyday heroes, full of wit and wisdom? Yes, every one of them.
