Author Information

Dr. Katherine Miller, an expert in both organizational and health communication, received bachelor's and master's degrees from Michigan State University, and a doctorate from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California. During her 30-year academic career, she served on the faculties of Michigan State University, the University of Kansas, Arizona State University and Texas A&M University. She has written three books and more than 60 journal articles and book chapters. Kathy now works as an independent writer and editor and, with her daughter, runs Hyperbole Bookstore, an independent bookstore in College Station, Texas. Dr. Joshua B. Barbour studies practitioners' strategic and macromorphic efforts to navigate and remake organizational and institutional structures. He received a bachelor's degree from The George Washington University and a master's degree and doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In twenty-five years in the academy, he has held faculty positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Austin, and he has authored over fifty articles, book chapters and other publications. He is currently a professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He lives in Champaign, IL with his partner, Jennifer, and his children, Henry and Hazel. Dr. DaJung (""DJ"") Woo's areas of research expertise are communication processes involved in negotiations of membership, knowledge and collaborative work within and across organizations. She received a bachelor's degree from Ewha Womans University, located in Seoul, South Korea, where she was born and raised. She then moved to the United States for graduate education in communication studies and earned a master's degree from Kansas State University and a doctorate from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She served on the faculty of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and is currently an assistant professor at Rutgers University. Dr. Woo is the author of 25 articles and book chapters. She lives in North Jersey with her partner, Mat, and their daughter, Jiwoo, and dog, Mari.
