Organization Man, Organization Woman: Calling, Leadership and Culture

Overview

"In this volume, Shirley Roels (the primary author) explores the callings and responsibilities of both male and female Christians as they work together to lead both profit and not-for-profit organizations into the 21st century. To this end, she considers the struggles over gender relations that have emerged in the last thirty years by examining gender-related changes in organizational life. The volume offers critical responses to the positions developed in Roels' lead essay from Paul Camenisch and Barbara Andolsen and a rejoinder from Roels. The responses further develop concepts of Christian vocation and professionalism, and consider how these ideas apply to ""pink collar"" and ""blue collar"" workers. Through this dialogical format, the volume makes a significant contribution to Christian economic ethics in our increasingly complex emerging global context. Organization Man, Organization Woman helps the reader: * understand the implications of the changing international, political, and economic scene for Christian ethics * see what Christian ethics has to say that is useful in the rapidly changing world of business in a global setting * reexamine such concepts as vocation, covenant, sin, grace, and community"
