This book addresses the reality of Third Sector organisations in Santana do Livramento, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which carry out significant work within the community. In addition to formal organisations, it includes others that have a notable local presence, albeit informally. It describes the day-to-day management activities of these organisations, as well as their operating systems, main characteristics and needs. The structure of the book is outlined as follows: the context of the research and its theoretical foundations, method and data analysis, considerations and recommendations. The results found point to the relevance of the Third Sector, evidenced by the number of citizens assisted, volunteers and paid jobs in the aforementioned city. However, for this book to contribute effectively to the organisation of the Third Sector, it is essential that the recommendations be implemented in cities that are not linked to the benefits provided by these organisations.
