Overview

In this book, there are new notes on cleaning and drying glassware, and how to find a good test for producing, purification and recognition of organic compounds by agricultural students in organic chemistry laboratory. For example, how their samples are purified. Moreover, students may now find directions for acheiving a melting and boiling point with the micro methods. Washing has been given the same importance as extraction. A few more trouble spots - taking the pH of an organic layer, can be smoothed. There are additional instructions on steam distillation using external sources of steam. Simple manometers coping with air leaks, and by the correct use of a pressure-temperature nomograph enhances the section on vacuum distillation. Recognition tests of organic compounds and the theory of extraction have been added. Moreover, this book explains how you can tackle the basics of health and safety and tells you how to identify, assess and control the activities that might cause harm in your laboratory. I believe some students or experts deserve assisting in improving this edition. My students helped me uncover what was lacking in their organic chemistry laboratory course, but Ms. Maryam Ayoubi made specific suggestions since working in the laboratory. I would also like to thank for their valuable comments and suggestions in making this book more useful for students of organic chemistry laboratory.
