OverviewFormer diplomat Sir Miles Griffin is driven by an obsession to avenge the killing of his family by the US Army in Iraq while he was serving at the British Embassy there. He is commander of the European cell of Al- Qaeda. Under his direction the terrorists gain control of Sky-Eye, a spacecraft parked in deep space and stacked with nuclear missiles, which they intend using for revenge and extortion by hitting US military targets. However, all efforts to obtain Sky-Eye's firing codes fail, and Griffin blackmails a homosexual engineer to sabotage a satellite's testing at a UK company forcing them to request help from Frank Adams an English spacecraft engineer living in Canada. Adams, a former SAS Colonel and reformed alcoholic, is the designer of Sky-Eye's weapons system. On his return to England, Adams learns that his ex-wife, Patsy, has cancer and only a short time to live. Despite many years of separation she and Adams still love each other, and when friends arrange that they meet, Adams vows to save her life. Learning that there might be a cure but at a very high price, Adams accepts Griffin's offer of five million for arming Sky-Eye at a Control Room set up at Griffin's country house. However, not trusting Griffin's motives, he agrees to work with British Counter Terrorism Command to sabotage the project.
