OverviewThis book covers the project to develop and evaluate the use of ligand binding assays based on H-type carbohydrates, which recently have been shown to bind to norovirus virus-like particles as a proof of concept for the recovery of noroviruses from environmental water samples. The study compared and evaluated this method along with an electropositive 1MDS filterelution method and explored different strategies for the development of a real-time RT-PCR assay. The overall goal of this project was to select an optimized method that detects the majority of the recognized NoV genogroups and genetic clusters that is applicable to a wide range of environmental samples. Findings, conclusions and future research is also covered.
