Dr. Axel Petzold MD PhD is a Consultant Neuro-ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Head of the Dutch Neuro-ophthalmology expertise centre at the VU Medical Centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London, United Kingdom. Dr Petzold has contributed to developing and validating biomarkers for inflammation and neurodegeneration in multiple sclerosis and optic neuropathies. He is currently involved in setting up and integrating new imaging techniques for retinal signs of inflammation and neurodegeneration.
