OverviewAlthough structurally and thematically similar to 'At the Crossroads of Axial Divergence' (2003), comprised, as ever, of aphoristic notes, this work represents a quantum leap forward in certain areas which are explored more accurately and rigorously by the author than before, progressing from a consideration of the distinctions between sacred and profane ego to the cultural and political differences between Europe and America, and of how Britain's attraction towards America undermines Europe and creates problems which even France cannot avoid being affected by, much as France differs from Britain in respect of its cultural and political traditions and should be judged, we believe, by criteria closer, in essence, to those obtaining in countries like Ireland, where the influence of the Catholic Church is traditionally more omnipresent. - A Centretruths editorial Full Product DetailsAuthor: John O'Loughlin (University of Colorado-Boulder USA)Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform Imprint: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform Dimensions: Width: 15.20cm , Height: 0.40cm , Length: 22.90cm Weight: 0.104kg ISBN: 9781505627428ISBN 10: 1505627427 Pages: 70 Publication Date: 18 December 2014 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: Available To Order We have confirmation that this item is in stock with the supplier. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationJohn O'Loughlin is a Galway-born London author who, at the age of 21/2, was brought over from Ireland to England by his Aldershot-born mother and grew up first in Hampshire and then in Surrey, where he attended a variety of state schools. Most of his adult life has been spent at different addresses in the London Borough of Haringey, north of the Thames, to which he moved from Surrey in 1974, and all but a few of his books have been written there, the majority of which, like this one, are of an intensely philosophical not to say metaphysical and even ideological nature.
