Overview

Opportunity for Evil is the second book in a trilogy with C. E. Hall as a fire investigator and FBI consultant. The local fire chief has called C.E. Hall to investigate the cause of a small fire in a print shop. When a body is discovered in an adjoining stamp store the investigation takes a turn when looking into the cause of death. The coroner finds a series of rare stamps that are counterfeit. FBI agent Nick Thomson joins the investigation. C.E. Hall and Nick uncovered that the counterfeit stamps have links to criminal organizations from drug cartels to the Russian Mafia, Chinese spies, and middle east terrorists. The groups had been using the stamps as a way to launder international money. While unraveling this case they discover a link with the past sinister case of a post-Nazi organization in the first book, The Philatelist. To find the answers C.E. and Nick first must weave their way through interlocking webs of a drug cartel, Chinese espionage, and break-up a terrorist plot in the port of Los Angeles before they bring down international bankers that finance criminal activities.

Author Information

D. H. Coop is a retired fireman/paramedic. As a result of a fall at a fire, he worked in the fire prevention bureau prior to a medical retirement. Fortunately, he had a social sciences teaching credential with a major in history, or as he would tell his students, he ""fell into teaching."" For 20 years has written as a guest columnist on the subject of history. He drew upon his experiences as a Marine, toolmaker, fire paramedic, fire prevention plan checker, history teacher, avid reader, and a philatelist to write his first historical fiction book, The Philatelist. He lives in CA with his wife Kay. They have two children and six grandchildren. Opportunity for Evils is Coop's second book int the trilogy.
