OverviewOpen eye injuries are a major public health issue, due to their functional, psychological and social repercussions, which can significantly impair quality of life (QoL). The aim of our work was to describe the epidemiological and clinical aspects of the patients affected, and to assess the impact of these traumas on their QOL and mental health. We conducted a prospective study including 20 patients managed in the ophthalmology department of the Tunis Military Hospital between January 2020 and March 2023. Data were collected by interview, clinical examination and administration of the NEI VFQ-25 questionnaire. The mean age was 34.2 years, with male predominance; work-related accidents were the main etiology.
