Overview

As the ambulance pulled up I remember wanting to run up to it, but I knew I couldn't get in the way. I saw them pull him out on the stretcher with all sort of things hooked up to him. The look on their faces told me it was extremely serious. They asked who was his Mother and I said me? They said just follow us. It was like my feet couldn't move. I had never been so scared in my life. I said Bari, mommy's here. He didn't respond as we were running into the ER. Demarion Pittman was a tough little toddler who spoke his mind. When he was accidentally forgotten in a hot car by his daycare center, his life was changed forever. Doctors told his parents to prepare for his death but they never gave up hope. Only A Mother is a factual and heartwarming account of one family's devastating journey. Edna Pittman shares her story of unwavering faith, hope and unconditional love.

Author Information

Edna Pittman always knew she wanted to do something to make a difference. From the time she could read, she knew she wanted to be on television. At a young age she began singing, performing and speaking in front of an audience. After a devastating accident that left her caring for a special needs child, she decided to spend her life helping and informing others. Edna worked with legislators in Oklahoma to get Demarion's Law passed after her son was hurt by a daycare operator. Instead of silently sitting back she decided to share her story with the nation and work towards changing laws dealing with daycare center licensing. Her goal is to have laws like Demarion's Law passed in every state. She is the Founder/CEO of the non-profit organization BARI (Being A Real Influence). She started the organization after spending months in the hospital with her son Demarion, seeing families devastated by illness. A former television reporter and producer, she has been in the broadcasting industry for more than 15 years. She has worked as a reporter and producer for both ABC and CBS affiliates. She is a published contributing author in The Motherhood Diaries and The Motherhood Diaries 2. Currently, she works as a television director. Edna's favorite saying is Faith the size of a mustard seed has the potential of endless possibilities. She began sharing her testimony of faith, the power of prayer and forgiveness while dealing with all of the things life brought her way after Demarion's accident.
