I stumbled upon this formulae when I went for a medication exam at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. I was not informed that I would be doing a medication exam so I did not go over my medication calculation formulae. As any nurse would testify, if you cannot remember your medication calculation formulae, you are doomed to fail. Out of desperation, frustration and scratching my head, I tried this formula and it worked. I have been using this formulae since 1995 and it has been successful all the time. I have even modified and made it simple. This formulae is the best because it is based on a system. Just like any system, it is dependable and predictable. This will give nurses the assurance to do their work. But more importantly, it will give them the peace of mind to care for their patients. This is fun.
