"Endorsed by Claudia Black, PhD - Pioneer in the study of dysfunctional family systems shaped by alcohol and addictive disorders. Expressed with such raw emotion and honesty, this is an incredibly powerful book for any reader, but if you grew up in a family impacted by substance addiction, you will identify with the pain in childhood and the joy that comes with the author's healing and recovery. Claudia Black Ph.D., author of It Will Never Happen to Me, and Unspoken Legacy ... From Ronald Johnson, PsyD: Joni takes the reader on a journey from very raw pain, to developing hope, and then to land in acceptance and love. It is an extraordinary journey. ... From Alan Muia, Executive Director, New Earth Recovery: This collection represents some of the most expressive and authentic descriptions of the cost of addiction I've read. Along with suffering and pain, Joni's poetry reveals the resilience, hope, and grace that have led to her healing and wholeness. May it do the same for many others. ... From: Sarfraz Ahmed, Poet (UK) 2024 One Petal at a Time by Joni Caggiano is a masterpiece of poetry, exposing the poet's true vulnerability as she captures the reader's attention, pulling you in line by line, word by word. Each poem is powerful yet delicate enough to leave a mark on the reader that penetrates and devours you within a sea of words that pulsate through the themes of the book. Separated yet intertwined in three parts; The beginning; Seedlings and Blooming, as the writing develops and grow through every poetic word. Joni has given a gift to the world through her storytelling. She has created something truly beautiful, whilst taking us through a journey encapsulated in the heart of experiences that are truly personal. There is perfection here, through poetic pieces such as; ""Drifting Thoughts,"" ""Sewn,"" ""Gifts and Winter,"" ""Blood Orange,"" ""Lost Love,"" ""Uncles House,"" ""Open Casket,"" ""Wetlands,"" and ""Dips of Life."" This debut book of poetry takes you on a journey that is sure to leave you wanting more, as each petal falls imbeds itself resonating right through your heart. An amazing debut that shines through poetic brilliance leaves you wanting more! ... From Francisco Bravo Cabrera, Valencia, Spain, paintinginvalencia.com I love the written word, and poetry is the perfect medium for truly expressing the values, emotions, and feelings that we share. I greatly admire and believe in Joni as a writer. She is a wonderful writer who touches the heart, so I have donated these drawings that you see here as illustrations to her love-filled, powerful, and deeply personal poetry."
