Overview

The book is a collection of critical essays on the complex subject of war by academic experts in the fields of Literature and Film Studies and journalists of the print media. It is a multi-disciplinary and pluralistic approach which gives new dimensions to a subject of important contemporary relevance. The book is divided into three segments, each dealing with a different approach to the subject; the first section provides various critical interpretations of War in Literature, including Revolutionary Catharsis, the Cosmopolitanism of war, War Poetry and specific works related to War. The second section deals with the aspects of War as portrayed through Film and the Media, with specific focus on conflict reporting from the frontlines, and representation of War on Film. The last section contains papers written by students from different disciplines, about the Futility of War, War and Media and other related themes.
