OverviewAnnette is a Midlands-based poet who lives with far too many books in a small house near the Grand Union canal. She was born in 1951 in New Zealand and grew up there, but after some years of travelling, she put down new roots in England. She did not begin writing until she retired, when an adult education class introduced her to the delights and challenges of poetry - she has been immersed in reading and writing it ever since. Her work has appeared in a variety of magazines and anthologies; in 2018 she won West Midlands Poetry on Loan, and in 2023 was one of the winners in the Hysteria Writing Competition. Her first collection of poetry is a sharply observed commentary on the wonder to be found in what many would consider 'ordinary'. Richly detailed and evocative, it is easy to imagine yourself seeing the world through Annette's eyes.
