Shelda Mae lives in Hope, Arkansas, the state of her birth. She has always had a passion for learning and teaching and after earning a bachelor's degree in education, served as a classroom teacher for thirteen years. She became a grandmother in 2023, which further heightened her interest in teaching and pushed her to write On Nana's Knees. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, playing tennis, and of course, spending time with her grandchildren.
