'On Dreams' is a psychological work on the causes and function of dreaming. Freud theorized that dreams are profound, veiled, insights to inner-most wants, desires, and fears, and can give superb understanding of the individual by revealing a completely new perspective. He describes three primary types of dreams: 1. Direct prophecies received in the goal (chrematismos, oraculum); 2. The foretelling of another function (orama, visio) and 3. The symbolic fantasy, which requires interpretation (Interpretation of Dreams).He first introduced this theory of 'manifest content', the unconscious through dream interpretation, to describe what the dream recalled and what it can reveal about the person.
