Kevin Johnss larger-than-life personality leaps off the page, grabs you by the neck and compels you to take notice. Autobiographies are, all too often, used as ego-trips, shallow jaunts on end-of-career vessels, but while Kevin Johns is loud, proud and not shy of name-dropping, there are depths to this man that makes the reading of this book worthwhile. A Swansea Jack, raised in Plasmarl, he is married with two children and although he has travelled widely, his heart and home are firmly in Swansea. He loves his family, football, people in general and life in particular. He doesnt use this word but he comes across as a workaholic, a non-drinker addicted to the buzz that entertaining gives, whatever form it takes, pulpit or pantomime. After training in two theological colleges he entered the Ministry in 1984, working and preaching all over Britain until 1992, but in between stints at London and Elim colleges, he began his career in entertaining as a clown before moving on to play pantomime Dames. In 1993 he began to broadcast regularly on the radio station Swansea Sound, which he does to this day, presenting Breakfast with Kevin Johns, Sunday Hotline and Heart And Soul which is devoted to Gospel music, often using these programmes to champion good causes. His acting career has widened to include playing Rev. Eli Jenkins in Fluellen Theatre Companys 2008 production of Dylan Thomas Under Milk Wood. His other great love is football and he has been a supporter of Swansea City Football Club, The Swans, all of his life. He does the mike work at all their home matches then sits back to enjoy the game. He is now also their chaplain. This book, like the man, is full of surprises and the reader is left feeling that this is definitely not the end of the story.
