OverviewObstetric and gynecologic ultrasound was once performed only by sonographers and interpreted by radiologists or specially trained obstetricians. This is no longer the case. Obstetric and gynecologic sonograms are now also performed by emergency room physicians, obstetricians, physician's assistants, nurse-practitioners, and nurse-midwives. This shift in duties and responsibilities has increased the speed of healthcare delivery and improved patient care. This book has been designed specifically for ultrasound students and nurse midwives. It contains hundreds of images, charts, and diagrams, as well as practice exams with answer explanations. This book has been developed to help prepare for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) exam for ultrasound students and nurse midwives.
